Entry-Level Associates

A Head Start – We believe that a career should begin on the fast track. If you share that belief, and if you seek and are willing to assume a substantial level of responsibility at an early stage in your career, Littler Mendelson is ideally suited for you.  Instead of make-work assignments, tedious document reviews, and endless legal research projects, at Littler you will be given immediate opportunities to learn and develop your litigation and counseling skills. You will be mentored and evaluated as you handle actual matters for our clients. As a new associate, here is a sample of what you can expect.

  • Rather than waiting two to three years or longer – as is generally required in most large litigation practices – new attorneys are encouraged to make appearances before arbitrators, judges, and state and federal agencies within their first year.
  • First-year associates have the opportunity to assume a major role in litigation, including the taking and defending of depositions, which involves extensive contact with client representatives and opposing counsel.
  • We believe strongly in education and regularly conduct employment law seminars and training for our current and prospective clients. Our new attorneys are encouraged to participate in these work-place training sessions, which provide yet another opportunity for early client contact.

Littler Mendelson provides a unique and challenging environment for new associates. Through early, substantial involvement in all aspects of cases and close supervision and mentoring by more senior attorneys, our associates quickly develop the skills, confidence, and comfort level necessary to assume increasing responsibility. With a head start, you will quickly find that a career at Littler Mendelson will take you anywhere you want to go.
